Drainage Issues

Site last updated 30/11/2011

The Issues

We have long had issues about Morpeth’s drainage system. It doesn’t work.

Since the flood we have been collecting evidence and taking photographs of the many problems. We have continually been forwarding this information to the relevant bodies but are nearly always ignored or “Put on Hold”.

A planning application for an extension to the sewage works has recently been approved. We feel that the infrastructure for getting the stuff there should take priority. One of our members, Tom Smith, has produced a presentation headed “Flooding in the streets and homes of Morpeth” that can be viewed HERE.

In September 2008 large areas of the town had raw sewage enter properties. This is an ongoing problem that the action group is trying to address. If you have any evidence of your own please get in touch with us. The more we have the stronger our case will be.
